DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

      The Cooler Operations Team is comprised of eight essential functions. These are Logistics (internal/external fleet), Supply Chain, Receiving, Cooling, Warehousing, Shipping, Manufacturing and Facility Maintenance and Engineering. The team is heavily focused on the receiving, cooling, and shipping of product in the shortest amount of time to ensure finished products are handled according to specifications. Along with the efficient movement of goods into and out of the operation, the team supports and manages the Bonifresh manufacturing operations.  Functional support areas to these functions are Logistics, Warehousing, Supply Chain, and Maintenance. Combined the Cooler Operations will work together as one to ensure all internal and external customer needs are met in the highest regard for people safety, food safety, quality, and external customer needs. 

POSITION OVERVIEW:

       Oversees maintenance and repairs of ammonia refrigeration systems. Supervises refrigeration employees. Maintains temperature to plant specifications and USDA requirements. Must keep and maintain accurate records for local, state, and federal inspections.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Includes the following and/or other duties assigned based on business decisions.

  • Maintains ammonia cooling systems ensuring the cleanliness and safety compliance of the ammonia refrigeration equipment, perform proactive maintenance, work closely with Ammonia Operators/Technicians, and keeping department supervisors informed of system issues.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator, work in low temperature environments while troubleshooting and repairing cooling equipment.
  • Proactively seeks methods of improving systems by communicating with other system technicians within and outside the company.
  • Complete PSM, RMP, and CalARP programs and required documentation.
  • Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of legal guidelines and internal policies.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously.
  • Revise procedures, reports etc. periodically to identify hidden risks or non-conformity issues.
  • Draft, modify and implement company policies.
  • Collaborate with department heads to monitor enforcement of standards and regulations.
  • Works with management to ensure effective organizational design and that roles are correctly organized, defined, documented, and communicated to all employees.
  • Ensures effective safety procedures, tools and record keeping are managed through site leadership.
  • Adheres to company GMP’s (good manufacturing practices), safety procedures and all other quality processes.
  • Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Enforces GMP’s, and SOP’s policy.

  • Enforces General Housekeeping and Office Organization
  • Train subordinates in the safe use of machinery and equipment

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises employees in the refrigeration area and Temp Employees.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training new employees; planning, assigning, and direction work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  Required:

  • Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in using Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as a part of a collaborative team. Ability to prioritize deadlines & projects, including coordinating the efforts of multiple contributors, and establish time frames for completion of projects and assignments.

  • Ammonia certificates, training, and operator level training preferred.
